Terms of service
Version 1.0 · Last updated September 2026
1. What House Managers is
House Managers is an online noticeboard that introduces Kenyan families to people looking for domestic work. We are an intermediary.
We are not the employer of any house manager, not an employment agency, and not a party to any agreement you reach with another user. We do not set wages, hours or duties, and we do not supervise anyone's work.
2. Your account
- One phone number, one account. Give accurate information.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. Do not let anyone else use it.
- You must be 18 or older to use House Managers.
- We may suspend or remove an account for fraud, harassment, fake profiles, scraping, or anything else in section 4.
3. Contact details and fees
Phone numbers are hidden on public pages. At present, revealing a contact is free for signed-in users, subject to a daily limit.
We may introduce a charge for revealing contacts in future. If we do, we will say so clearly on the page before you are ever asked to pay, and nothing you have already revealed will be taken away.
House Managers is free for people looking for work and always will be. We never take a commission from anyone's wages.
4. What you must not do
- Harass, threaten, or abuse anyone.
- Create a fake profile, or list someone else without their knowledge and consent.
- Ask a house manager for money in exchange for work. This is a scam and we remove accounts for it without warning.
- Keep, demand or withhold anyone's original identity documents.
- Anything amounting to trafficking, forced labour, or the employment of a child. We report these to the authorities.
- Discriminate in ways that Kenyan law prohibits.
- Scrape, bulk-collect or resell personal data from this site.
- Pressure anyone into sharing contact details they have chosen to keep private.
5. Verification — what it does and does not mean
Where a profile carries a verification badge, it means a member of our team has looked at the identity documents described on the safety page and believes the person is who they say they are.
It is not a police background check, not a guarantee of honesty, competence or suitability, and not a recommendation from us. You remain responsible for checking references and forming your own judgement.
6. Reviews and content
Write honestly about your own experience. Do not post anything false, abusive, or aimed at damaging someone unfairly. We may remove content that breaks these terms, and we publish reviews only once a person has enough of them to make gaming difficult.
You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us permission to display it on House Managers.
7. Liability
The working relationship is between the family and the house manager. Wages, safety at the workplace, working conditions and the performance of the work are matters between you.
We provide the platform as it is and do not guarantee that any introduction will lead to a good outcome. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Your data
How we handle personal data is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms and follows the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site, and the version number above will change. Continuing to use House Managers after that means you accept the new version.
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction.
